29th September, 2011: Pro-Lite will be participating in the SRP’s (Society for Radiation Protection) Incoherent Optical Radiation Measurement practical workshop, which takes place on the 29^th September at Herriot-Watt University.

The workshop seeks to address the EU Directive on Artificial Optical Radiation and the recent introduction of the UK’s Control of Artificial Optical Radiation at Work Regulations 2010, both of which reference the growing need for appropriate optical radiation measurements. The aim of the workshop is to explain the key issues in measurement for protection purposes, including the choice of appropriate equipment; how the instrumentation is used; limitations of the equipment; and common sources of error. The workshop will also cover the use of incoherent sources of optical radiation, including LEDs, Intense Pulse Light Sources and UV Radiation.

Pro-Lite has been invited to participate at the event as one of the UK’s leading light measurement equipment distributors. Pro-Lite will be demonstrating the use of their spectrometers, including the newly released Torus spectrometer from Ocean Optics for the measurement of spectral irradiance, and will also show Konica Minolta’s extensive range of photometers and colorimeters.

The workshop is aimed at a cross-section of users of non-ionising radiation sources, including those from industry, educational, research and medical sectors.
