Detectors

InGaAs & Ge Photodiode Detectors

Pro-Lite supplies Germanium (Ge) and Indium Gallium Arsenide (InGaAs) photodiodes and avalanche photodiodes for the 800 ... 2200nm near-infrared band. We also supply cooled Indium Antimonide (InSb) and MCT Mercury Cadmium Telluride (HgCdTe) detectors for the 1 ... 25µm mid-infrared band. Quantum type detectors generate an electrical charge through the absorption of photons and exhibit very fast response times and higher sensitivities. Their responsivity does vary with wavelength and the InSb and MCT detectors need to be cooled to improve signal-to-noise levels. Pro-Lite also supplies laser power meters based upon thermal detectors - click here for details.

Germanium Detectors

Germanium (Ge) Detectors

Germanium (Ge) detectors operate from 800 ... 1800nm. They are similar to InGaAs but have a reduced sensitivity, are more economical and provide improved linearity at high levels of irradiance. Available options include active areas from 0.1 ... 13mm diameter, two-colour silicon/germanium (Si/Ge) detectors, cryogenic cooling, custom packages and windows and avalanche Ge photodiodes.

InGaAs Detectors

Indium Gallium Arsenide (InGaAs) Detectors

Indium Gallium Arsenide (InGaAs) detectors operate from 800 ... 1700nm. They are similar to Ge but with enhanced sensitivites at low light levels. Available options include large area InGaAs (up to 5mm), custom packages and windows, extended range InGaAs (to 2.2µm), avalanche photodiodes (APDs), and high speed InGaAs (up to 4GHz).

InSb Detectors

Indium Antimonide (InSb) Detectors

Photovoltaic quantum detectors based upon indium antimonide (InSb) are used in the mid infrared band, from 1 ... 25µm. We supply a variety of standard and custom InSb detectors, including quadrants and multi-element arrays from 2 to 128 pixels. These detectors must be cooled (liquid nitrogen in a dewar, multi-stage Peltier cooler, or using a Stirling-cycle engine). Matched preamplifiers are available.

MCT Detectors

MCT (HgCdTe) Detectors

Photoconductive quantum detectors based upon mercury cadmium telluride (HgCdTe) are used in the mid infrared band, from 1 ... 5.5µm. We supply a variety of standard and custom MCT detectors, including quadrants and multi-element arrays from 2 to 128 pixels. These detectors must be cooled (liquid nitrogen in a dewar, multi-stage Peltier cooler, or using a Stirling-cycle engine). Matched preamplifiers are available.
