Modular, Small Area Uniform Light Sources
The affordable way to configure your own uniform light source system
The Labshere USS-800 series is a family of affordable, small area uniform light sources. All models are based upon an 8 inch sphere with 2 inch exit port. The USS-800S sources use an internal tungsten halogen lamp and give a fixed, non-adjustable luminance, whereas the USS-800C sources use an external lamp coupled through a variable attenuator which allows the luminance to be adjusted. Please note that luminance adjustment by means of varying the current applied to the lamp is not possible - doing so would degrade the lamp and cause the uniform light source to quickly lose its calibration. Luminance uniformity is specified at 98% or better over the full area of the exit port (at maximum luminance). Choose from internal lamps of 5, 35 or 75 Watts, or external lamps of 35, 75 or 100 Watts to give fixed or adjustable luminance of up to 70,500 cd/m2. The external lamps couple through a micrometer adjusted variable attenuator. The halogen lamps used in the USS-800 series burn at a correlated colour temperature of 3,000 Kelvin. Each system is supplied with a current regulated lamp power supply and a calibrated photometer that records the luminance from the sphere and displays this reading in cd/m2. All spheres are supplied with a post mount and base for bench use. Optional calibrations include measurements of the source illuminance, spectral radiance (300-2400nm) and integrated radiance. Luminance uniformity mappings of the sphere are also available, both spatial and angular. USS-800S Specifications & System Configurations
