The Optronik FMS 10 is our research-grade, laboratory tristimulus colorimeter which is available with a choice of sensors which are precision-matched to the CIE X1, X2, Y & Z observer functions. The FMS 10 is a bench-top photometer for measuring both the colour and the illuminance of light sources in units of lux (lx).
Research-Grade Performance & Features
The FMS 10 has a dynamic range of 6 decades, providing measurements up to 600,000 lux with a resolution of 0.0001 lux. An RS-232C (serial) interface is fitted as standard, while optional LightCon FMS software provides PC control, test report generation, data storage and processing, graphical representation, isocolor diagrams and CIE tri-chromatic colour space diagrams.
Four Filtered Detectors for the Highest Colorimetric Accuracy
The FMS-10 employs four thermally stabilised silicon detectors in its sensor head, each of which is filtered to precisely match a CIE tristimulus XYZ observer function. The use of two detectors for the X function (X1& X2) significantly improves measurement accuracy compared with colorimeters that use only three detectors in total. Optronik developed one of the first digital lux meters in 1968 and is today acknowledged as a leader in the design and manufacture of precision photometric equipment. The proprietary tristimulus response filters consist of several elements designed to match the standard observer functions. The f1' figure-of-merit (for the photopic, Y channel) is better than 1.5% at all wavelengths (for class L sensors per DIN 5032) or better than 2.0% (for the class A sensor). The out-of-band sensitivity in the IR and UV range is also reduced to below 0.1%. The careful design of the detectors ensures best-in-class accuracy and repeatability, even with monochromatic or narrow band radiation sources such as LEDs. The FMS 10 is available with a choice of 3 standard sensors with active areas of 14 and 60mm diameter. Depending upon the sensor, you can choose either a DIN class A (f1' < 2.0%) or class L (f1' < 1.5%) spectral response. The 14mm sensor was developed for improved accuracy with highly directional light sources with uneven light distributions. The smaller sensor area helps to ensure that the detector is fully illuminated even where the device under test has a narrow beam angle.
